'She's staying with us': After a cross-country trip, tired pawrents adopt scruffy stray as cat #4 after she follows them home in the rain

After an exhausting cross-country trip, this couple didn't expect to bring home a new family member. But a soaked, scruffy cat sitting in a gutter had other plans.

Instead of running off, she walked right up for pets. When they tried to head home, she followed step by step, chirping and meowing like they were already hers. At their front door, she strolled right in without a second thought.

They gave her food, a bath, and planned to get her vet-checked before finding her a home. This couple already had three cats and wasn't planning on adding another, but by morning, she was curled in their laps, purring like she'd always lived there.

After a vet visit where the kitty was found to be healthy, friendly, and full of charm, these pawrents added a fourth child to their family. They meant to help her find a new home. She picked one herself.

She came. She purred. She stayed.
